THE RIDE OF THE CENTURY

CENTENNIAL TRAIL RIDE

TERRELL COUNTY TEXAS

1905 – 2005

The Centennial Trail ride will begin with early arrivals on Wednesday, June 29 th, 2005, at the Kerr Ranch on Highway 349, starting at 4:00 p.m.

Wagons are welcome.

Thursday, June 30th, Cattle call will be at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast at 8:00 a.m. We’ll try to have everyone organized to pull out by 9:30 a.m. Lunch on Thursday will be hamburgers and dinner a fish-fry. Entertainment is planned but not yet finalized.

Friday, July 1st, Cattle Call and breakfast times will be the same. Please pack a lunch for this day. We will start the centennial celebration as we ride pass the Terrell County Courthouse on our way to the camp site. Supper ($6.00) will be available at the court house and a live band will entertain later.

Saturday morning we will assemble for the parade for those that are interested. If you would also like to dress in period costume and enter the Costume Contest, please register at www.sandersontx.info/centennial.html. A BBQ lunch will be available for a reasonable cost. There may be a short afternoon ride – we are still working on this. You are free to ride along the Texas Highways and enjoy the scenery of the foothills of the Big Bend Country. There is also a roping at the Downie Arena at 1:00 p.m. There will be a live band again at the Court House at 8:00 p.m.

Sunday there will be more activities around town including fireworks that night.

Wednesday and Thursday and on the trail horse-water, soft drinks, bottled water and porta-potties will be provided. Friday and Saturday night will be held in the same place. Bring hoses and chairs.

Cost for the first rider in each truck and trailer is $100. For every rider and non-rider in the rig, there will be an additional fee of $75.00. Local resident fee is $75 if you don't camp Friday and Saturday night.

Coggins will be checked before entrance to the site. All dogs must be on a leash at all times. Shoes are not required, but recommended. There will be times that we will be riding on pavement and near railroad traffic and some small airplanes at times. We will have some way to take you to your rigs so we can move them forward each day.

A deposit of $55.00 must be received by The Centennial Trail Ride Committee, PO Box 88 , Sanderson , Texas , 79848 by June 20th to assure you receive your meals and a place on the ride. You will receive a Centennial t-shirt and cap. Please include your size when you send your deposit (SM to 2X). We will endeavor to have them separated and ready to make registration easier. We would also like to include the miles that you will travel to reach Sanderson.
