RULES

TERRELL COUNTY CENTENNIAL
BRISKET SHOOTOUT
Official Rules & Regulations

  1. Cooking Spaces will be assigned as entries are received.
  2. All items will be furnished by each team. (This is to include meat, wood, and other fuels.)
  3. Teams may consist of 1 to 5 members.
  4. Briskets are to be cooked on open fire……NO PITS OR PRESSURE COOKERS ALLOWED.
  5. No vehicles will be allowed at cook-site. Unloading Pass will be given to each entry. After unloading, vehicles must be moved outside of contest area. No ATV’s, golf carts, mules, or horses allowed in cooking area.
  6. The Head Chef of each team will be responsible for the cleanliness of their area during and after the contest. The Head Chef is also responsible for the conduct of the team. Any space left in disarray or with loose trash or garbage will disqualify the team from any further participation.
  7. Food & showmanship judges will be selected by the Terrell County Fair Assn.Judges’ decision will be final.
  8. Food will be judged on Flavor, Aroma, Texture, and Appearance. Garnish will be allowed on plates.
  9. Contestants will be allowed to sell food items.
  10. Contest will begin after 7:00 A.M., Sunday, July 3, 2005.
  11. Judging will begin at 5:00 P.M., Sunday, July 3, 2005.
  12. Teams may begin setup on July 2, 2005, between 5:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M., or after 6:00 A.M., Sunday, July 3, 2005. (There will be a street dance on Saturday night beginning at 9:00 P.M. & traffic will be congested.) No setups allowedbefore 5:00 P.M., Saturday, July 2, 2005.
  13. NO FIREARMS to be allowed on premises.
  14. NO GAMBLING of any form allowed on premises.
  15. NO REFUNDS. EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE AS PLANNED.
  16. Entry fees will not be refunded for teams disqualified for infringement of the rules.
  17. Terrell County, The Terrell County Centennial Committee, or The Terrell County Fair Assn. shall not be held responsible for any accidents, lost, stolen, or damaged property.

Money must accompany entry. Entry must be received by June 28, 2005.

 Open Cookers: 1st $ 1000.00; 2nd $ 500.00; 3rd $ 300.00

*Homegrown Cookers: 1st $ 300.00; 2nd $ 200.00; 3rd $ 100.00

Showmanship - $ 500.00

 Homegrown Cooker is anyone who has ever lived in Terrell County.
